The man behind the creative
The man behind the creative
I'm a creative person at heart, which is a line I like to use as a nod to my nearly 7 years working as a Healthcare Scientist Associate in my local hospital's Cardiology department.
While performing electrocardiograms (ECGs) on patients, or managing their pacemakers or ICDs through remote monitoring during the day, I'd spend my evenings and weekends working on creative design concepts for non-profits and start-ups.
Though, I've been told I've been creative since I was a kid, starting with work in Microsoft Publisher to design a 'membership only' magazine business, five pages in length and full of clip art, with only my family as part of the membership .
It's safe to say I've come a long way since those days and now design websites, apps and other digital platforms as a user interface designer, while also producing graphics, brochures and other materials as a graphic designer for digital and print.
Outside of the design world, I'm a marketing & communications professional and lead on all marketing & communications activity for a digital innovation service, telling impactful stories with demonstrable impact, something which I carry over into my design work.
I'm also a trustee of a national charity, overseeing their communications, and an award-winning broadcaster (named Best Male Presenter of the Year at the 2014 National Hospital Radio Awards!). These roles have taught me that communication is about more than words and visuals; it's about understanding your audience, knowing what they need to hear and finding the clearest, most human way to say it. This thinking sits at the heart of every design I create.
From countryside walks to watching Formula 1, to advocating for the Apple ecosystem, I'm forever creating designs that connect and communicate and I'm ready to help with yours.
