Medical Device Platform
A prototype of a medical device platform for an innovative start-up, designed ready for hand-off to developers
Client
Cardiac-Tech
Role
User Interface Designer

The Challenge
The brief
Cardiac-Tech developed hardware that provides analysis of a patients pacemaker that provides beat-to-beat analysis, identifying loss of capture; arrhythmias, bradycardias and tachycardias.
They needed a platform where all of this information could be fed back to clinicians. That's the Pace-Protect platform, a diagnostic tool that allows remote monitoring of temporary pacing, electrogram (EGM) reviews, analysis of pacing and arrhythmia burden and pacing meta-data collection
The Approach
My approach
After meeting the founders to find out more about their product and what information was critical to the platform, I went away and mocked up a couple of variations. Further meetings took place with the founders, where we agreed on a layout that would provide the functionality required, in an easy-to-view platform that clinicians could use and quickly glance at if needed.
From developing the final user interface, sourcing relevant typefaces and colour palettes, I worked on the final iteration of the design in Sketch and provided a working prototype, where the founders were able to click through a mock patient on the system, to get a 'real-world' look at how the platform would look and feel once developed.
A few small tweaks later, the design was ready to hand-off to their developers.

The Outcome
The results
The developers had a design of the user interface for the platform that was ready for them to develop into a real-world product. The product is now live.
